Brandon Wilson leads 2026 poker rankings ahead of WSOP showdown

The race for poker’s top honours is heating up as the 2026 World Series of Poker approaches. Brandon Wilson currently dominates both the Global Poker Index (GPI) and CardPlayer Magazine Player of the Year rankings. His strong performance comes ahead of the WSOP, set to begin at the end of May. Brandon Wilson holds the lead in the GPI Player of the Year (POY) standings with 3,588.36 points. He also tops the CardPlayer POY rankings, amassing 5,925 points. His success includes three tournament wins from fourteen final tables, along with earnings exceeding $5.2 million.

Behind Wilson, the competition remains fierce. Quan Zhou sits in second place on the GPI POY with 3,450.25 points, while Ren Lin follows in third with 3,347.15 points. Brock Wilson occupies fourth place on the GPI list, holding 2,921.46 points. In the CardPlayer rankings, Jon Ander Vallinas is second with 4,180 points, and Quan Zhou takes third with 3,920 points. These standings reflect a busy season, with high-stakes events like the European Poker Tour’s Monte Carlo stop already underway.

The upcoming WSOP will likely shake up the rankings as players vie for crucial points. Brandon Wilson’s lead in both major standings sets a high bar for his rivals. With major tournaments still to come, the race for Player of the Year remains wide open.
