Bayern Munich's 125th Anniversary Trading Cards Sell Out in Record Time
Goosebumps at FC Bayern World: Hours before the event began, fans had already set up camp outside the store, hoping to snag one of the strictly limited anniversary boxes. When Bastian Schweinsteiger—the club legend and World Cup winner—stepped onto the stage, the crowd greeted him with thunderous chants of "Football God." Together with Topps and influencer Antonijo "Tone" Tabak (IamTabak), he launched the Topps anniversary edition "125 Years of FC Bayern Munich" and shared his greatest career moments, his passion for collecting, and the magic of Germany's record champions.
"An incredible amount," Schweinsteiger replied when asked what FC Bayern means to him today. "This is simply home. My heart will always be red. And it will always stay that way." He reminisced about his early days with the club: "When I joined as a 13-year-old, or when I wore the Bayern jersey as a little boy in Oberaudorf—those are moments you never forget." Among his greatest achievements, he counts the 2013 treble: "The best feeling was that we managed to perform at that level and help the club grow."
Shaped by Legends – Inspired by the Best
The World Cup winner looked back on the defining milestones of his career: encounters with icons like Oliver Kahn, Mehmet Scholl, and Franz Beckenbauer; working with coaches such as Jupp Heynckes, Ottmar Hitzfeld, and Pep Guardiola. "I was lucky enough to experience both the older generation and the new one. That mix was unique. Jupp Heynckes is personally my favorite coach. But I took something from each of them—even from the tough school of Felix Magath."
€6,600 for a Schweinsteiger Trading Card
For Schweinsteiger, being immortalized on Topps cards is a "huge honor." "As a little boy, I collected them too—and when you end up on one yourself, it means a lot." His most expensive card to date? A 2014 World Cup dual card with Miroslav Klose, which sold for €6,600. During the live opening—streamed for fans—Schweinsteiger pulled a signed card of himself. "Fans go crazy when they find you in a pack," commented IamTabak, explaining, "Collectors value the emotional connection to special moments—from the 2013 Champions League triumph to legendary World Cup matches." For influencer and Schweinsteiger fan David Rau, the day was unforgettable: "They say you should never meet your heroes. The Anniversary Edition: A Tribute to 125 Years of FC Bayern Munich
On February 27, 2025, FC Bayern Munich will celebrate 125 years of club history—from the youth academy and Säbener Straße to the Allianz Arena. The new Topps set pays homage to today's heroes, the legends of decades past, and the club's unstoppable women's team. "This event and the special edition are perfect elements of our anniversary year," said FC Bayern. "125 years of FC Bayern means history, emotion, and countless unforgettable moments. With this collaboration, we're bringing many of those highlights to life and giving fans the chance to collect them." That's why we've featured current stars, club legends, and players from both the men's and women's teams. Highlights include limited parallel cards, such as the 'Blue Parallel' (six copies, one for each of the club's six Champions League titles). Another standout is the 'Munich Home Duo Relic'—featuring authentic elements from both home stadiums: a piece of seating from the Olympic Stadium and a fragment of the Allianz Arena."
