The Sunday Million poker tournament returns to US after 15-year hiatus

The iconic Sunday Million poker tournament is making a comeback in the US after a 15-year absence. PokerStars on FanDuel will host the event starting April 12, 2023, with a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. Players across Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania can now compete in the revived competition. The Sunday Million first launched in March 2005 with a $215 buy-in and a prize pool of $1,178,600. Over the years, it grew into one of the most prestigious online poker tournaments, setting records along the way. In 2011, the 10th-anniversary edition featured a $10 million guarantee, eventually creating a $12,432,200 prize pool. The 2020 14th-anniversary tournament broke further records with 93,016 entrants and an $18,602,300 prize pool—the largest in its history.

The tournament’s biggest single payout went to Vanessa Kade, who won $1,514,920 in 2021. Now, the Sunday Million returns as part of PokerStars’ launch on FanDuel, benefiting from a shared liquidity network across Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This weekend, two editions will run: a $100 buy-in and a $1,000 buy-in, with a combined $1 million guaranteed across both.

The Sunday Million’s return marks a major moment for US online poker. Players in three states can now compete for substantial prizes, starting with this weekend’s $1 million guarantee. The tournament’s revival also strengthens PokerStars’ presence on the FanDuel platform.
