Primm's Last Casinos Close, Ending a Gambling Era Near Vegas
Primm Valley Casino Resorts and Buffalo Bill’s Resort and Casino are shutting down for good. The closures mark the end of an era for the once-busy gambling hub near the Nevada-California border. Employees will lose their jobs by early July, leaving the future of local entertainment uncertain. Primm Valley was the last remaining casino resort in Primm, a town that once offered a cheaper, quieter alternative to Las Vegas. Its decline followed years of struggle, worsened by the COVID pandemic and rising competition from nearby tribal casinos. Even as late as September, the resort promoted newly renovated rooms and special experiences in a final push to attract visitors.
Buffalo Bill’s Resort had already scaled back operations before its closure. Affinity Gaming stopped its 24/7 service there in July 2021. Now, the hotel will take its last reservations this Sunday, with all employees receiving termination notices. Primm Valley staff face the same fate, with their final day set for July 4.
The shutdown leaves booked music and magic acts in limbo until July 25. No further details have been given about refunds or alternative venues for these events. The closures will leave Primm without any operating casino resorts. Hundreds of workers will be out of jobs by next week. The town’s future as a gambling and entertainment stop now hangs in the balance.
