Illinois Gaming Board extends Hard Rock Casino Rockford's license to 2026
The Illinois Gaming Board has extended Hard Rock Casino Rockford’s owner license by four years. This decision comes as the casino, the first to open under the state’s 2019 gaming expansion law, continues its operations since launching in November 2021.
The board also approved multiple licenses for sports wagering, casino staff, and video gaming operators during its latest session. Hard Rock Casino Rockford began operations on November 10, 2021, marking a key milestone as the first casino under Illinois’ 2019 gaming expansion law. In August 2024, it transitioned to a permanent facility. The board has now extended its owner license retroactively to January 2026.
For sports wagering, the board issued a Master Sports Wagering License to Wind Creek IL LLC, operating as Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino. Additionally, 230 Level 2 occupational licenses and one supplier license were approved for sports betting roles.
The board also greenlit 284 Level 2 occupational licenses, two Level 1 occupational licenses, and two casino supplier license renewals. Two key casino personnel received approval as well.
In video gaming, the board approved 18 terminal handler applicants, 60 location applicants, and four new terminal operator applicants. It also renewed licenses for one manufacturer, two distributors, and 17 terminal operators. The license extensions and new approvals will allow Hard Rock Casino Rockford to operate under its renewed terms until 2026. Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino can now proceed with sports wagering under its newly granted license. The board’s decisions cover a wide range of gaming operations, from casino staff to video gaming terminals.
