Zabaikalsky Krai declares emergency over deadly livestock disease outbreak

Zabaikalsky Krai has entered a state of emergency after officials warned of a potential pasteurellosis outbreak. Governor Alexander Osipov issued the order to contain the disease, which poses a serious risk to livestock across the region. Strict measures are now in place to prevent further spread.

The emergency declaration follows earlier alerts that have since been lifted. Authorities have banned the sale of livestock, meat, and milk from high-risk areas. Owners in affected zones must also keep their animals indoors to limit contact and transmission.

The regional government has taken swift action to control the pasteurellosis threat. Movement restrictions, roadblocks, and financial preparations are now active. Farmers will receive guidance on culling and compensation as the situation develops.
