Yekaterinburg’s new pedestrian bridge to boost connectivity near Komsomol shopping hub

Yekaterinburg’s city hall is pushing forward with plans for a new pedestrian bridge near the Komsomol shopping center. The project, set to be completed by the end of the year, aims to give locals a car-free route to nearby areas. Meanwhile, the first phase of the Badenland entertainment complex has already opened inside the shopping centre.

The pedestrian bridge will be designed and initially managed by Baden-Baden before being transferred to Yekaterinburg’s administration. City officials intend to include the project in a federal funding programme, though the exact timeline hinges on securing the necessary budget. No specific group or individual has yet been named as responsible for obtaining the funds.

The Komsomol shopping center, where the bridge will connect, is undergoing its own transformation. In the future, it will host only entertainment and wellness services, aligning with the new Badenland complex. This complex, still under development, is scheduled for full completion by 2027. Once finished, the bridge will offer residents a direct walking path to key destinations without relying on vehicles. The project’s progress, however, remains tied to financial approvals and administrative steps.

The bridge’s completion by the end of the year depends on funding confirmation. If successful, it will improve local connectivity while supporting the broader redevelopment of the Komsomol shopping center. The Badenland complex, now partially open, will continue expanding until its planned finish in 2027.
