WSOP Expands into Europe with Malta Debut and €10M Prague Main Event
The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is expanding its reach in Europe with new events set for 2026. For the first time, Malta will host a WSOP International Circuit festival from September 25 to October 12. Organisers have also announced plans for a European edition of the WSOP in Prague, featuring a €10 million Main Event next spring.
The Malta festival will take place at Casino Malta in St. Julian's. Players will compete for 12 international Circuit rings, including a dedicated WSOPC Main Event. Winners of these rings will automatically qualify for the season-ending WSOP Circuit Championship.
Gregory Chochon, WSOP's Chief Operating Officer, called the Malta event a major milestone for live poker in the region. The tournament aims to set a new benchmark for European poker, offering what organisers describe as a world-class experience. Beyond Malta, the WSOP International Circuit will visit multiple locations in 2026. Confirmed stops include Liechtenstein from February 26 to March 10 and Amsterdam from March 13 to 21. Additional events are planned for France, Cyprus, Estonia, and three festivals in Montreal. Prague is also set to host the inaugural WSOP Europe from March 31 to April 12, 2026. The highlight will be a high-stakes Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of €10 million.
The 2026 WSOP schedule marks a significant expansion into new markets. Malta's debut event will offer direct paths to the Circuit Championship, while Prague's Main Event promises one of the largest prize pools in European poker. These additions follow the WSOP's strategy to grow its international presence with high-profile tournaments.
