WPT World Championship Final Table Turns into The Schuyler Thornton Show
Schuyler Thornton has won the World Poker Tour’s season-ending championship at Wynn Las Vegas. The victory earned him a top prize of $2,098,456 after outlasting a field of 1,865 players. His dominant performance at the final table secured his place among recent WPT champions.
The tournament, with a $10,400 buy-in, attracted one of the largest fields of the year. Thornton took control early in the final stages, playing aggressively and capitalising on key moments. His run to the title proved quicker and more decisive than many had anticipated.
At the final table, Thornton faced tough competition but maintained his lead. He defeated Soheb Porbandarwala in heads-up play to claim first place. The remaining payouts went to Jeremy Brown ($1,250,000 for third), Chad Lipton ($940,000 for fourth), Jeremy Becker ($710,000 for fifth), and Maxx Coleman ($540,000 for sixth). Thornton’s win adds his name to the list of recent WPT World Championship winners, following Eliot Hudon (2022), Dan Sepiol (2023), and Scott Stewart (2024). His combination of bold strategy and well-timed luck sealed the victory.
The tournament concluded with Thornton taking home the largest share of the $18.6 million prize pool. His aggressive approach and strong final-table performance set him apart. The win marks a career highlight in a highly competitive event.
