Woman wins $15M after slip-and-fall at Las Vegas casino hotel
A California woman has won a $15 million lawsuit against The Cosmopolitan, a Las Vegas casino hotel owned by MGM Resorts International. Deborah Fenton suffered severe injuries after slipping and falling at the property’s Chandelier Bar in 2021. The court ruled in her favour, holding the hotel responsible for unsafe conditions.
Fenton’s fall occurred due to water and broken glass left on the bar floor. Her lawsuit argued that the hotel’s negligence created dangerous conditions, leading to her accident. The injuries she sustained resulted in long-term health consequences.
The jury awarded her a total of $15 million in damages. This included $262,000 for past medical bills and $977,000 for future medical costs. She also received $1.4 million for physical pain, mental suffering, and loss of quality of life. The largest portion, $12.3 million, was for future pain and suffering. Fenton’s legal team, the Ace Law Group, stated that the verdict reflected the severity of her injuries. MGM Resorts International, which now operates The Cosmopolitan, has not yet responded to the ruling.
The case highlights the financial and personal toll of the accident on Fenton. The $15 million judgment covers medical expenses, ongoing suffering, and long-term impacts on her life. The hotel’s liability was confirmed by the court’s decision.
