White House’s ‘MySafeSpace’ Parody Sparks Outrage Over Tone-Deaf Humor

The White House has launched a MySpace parody page, 'mysafespace', targeting the Democratic party. The site, hosted on whitehouse.gov, mocks Democratic leaders and immigration policies, drawing criticism for its tone-deaf humour.

The parody page, titled 'The Democrats', features a vibrant sombrero background and a Linkin Park profile song. It's 'owned' by Hakeem, a caricature of House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), with a doctored white screen. The 'About Me' section is filled with Republican talking points, posing as democracy.

The page includes a 'Top 8 Friends' list, blending real Democratic leaders with meme caricatures and immigration policy victims. Users on Reddit and X have described the page as 'juvenile', 'fucking cringe', and 'tone-deaf'.

The website redirects 'Hakeem's Blog Entries' to official White House pages and the 'Subscribe to this blog' link to the White House's TikTok page. Clicking contact links opens pre-filled emails to Jeffries's and Schumer's congressional houses.

The 'mysafespace' page was launched during the longest government shutdown in US history, raising questions about the White House's approach to political humour and engagement. Despite the criticism, the page remains live, with no official response from Democratic leaders.
