New Karls Experience Village Coming to Wernigerode - Wernigerode’s €30M Strawberry-Themed Adventure Village Opens in 2028

A new Karls Adventure Village is coming to Wernigerode in Saxony-Anhalt, marking the first of its kind in the region. Themed around strawberries, the attraction will open in spring 2028 after a €30 million investment. Officials say it will be the largest tourism news project in the Harz town. The company behind the project, Karls Strawberry Farm, began as a single farm and now runs seven adventure villages across Germany. Another location is currently under construction in Oberhausen. In Wernigerode, the new village will cover around 12 hectares. Local leaders have welcomed the development. Mayor Tobias Kascha called it a major boost for Wernigerode, while district administrator Thomas Balcerowski described it as a flagship project for the entire Harz region. The company already operates a café with a candy workshop in Loburg, Saxony-Anhalt. Once complete, the village is expected to create about 180 permanent jobs. It will also offer 120 to 130 seasonal positions, many aimed at students. The new adventure village will bring fresh tourism opportunities to Wernigerode and the surrounding Harz area. With its strawberry theme and family-friendly attractions, it is set to become a key destination when it opens in 2028. The project follows a long line of expansions for Karls Strawberry Farm, which continues to grow across Germany.
