Virat Kohli leads India’s $2B celebrity brand boom with record value

The Indian celebrity landscape has seen a significant surge in brand values, with the top 25 celebrities now worth a combined $2 billion. This marks an 8.6% increase from last year. Leading the pack is Virat Kohli, who emerged as India's most valued celebrity with a brand value of $231.1 million.

Kohli's influence spans various sectors, including sportswear, luxury cars, tires, fashion, and food staples. His brand value surged by 21% following a successful year at the box office. Shah Rukh Khan also saw a significant increase, with his brand value rising by 21% to $145.7 million. Ranveer Singh held the second position with a brand value of $170.7 million.

OTT platforms have emerged as a significant force, generating more than half of the revenues for major releases. This shift has opened up new avenues for celebrities like Ananya Panday, who stormed into the top 25 with a brand value of $35.2 million. Sachin Tendulkar also re-entered the top five with a brand value of $112.2 million. Alia Bhatt became the most valued woman celebrity in India with a brand value of $116.4 million.

The rise in brand values reflects the growing influence and appeal of Indian celebrities. With South Indian cinema now commanding 47.7% of the domestic box office share, the industry's diversity and reach continue to expand. As the celebrity landscape evolves, so too does the potential for brand partnerships and endorsements.
