Vampire Therapist blends therapy and lore in a groundbreaking narrative game

A new narrative-driven game called Vampire Therapist is now available on Steam, with a PlayStation 5 release scheduled for February 17, 2026. Players take on the role of Sam Walls, a centuries-old vampire attending therapy in modern-day Leipzig. The game blends psychological depth with vampire lore, offering a unique twist on traditional storytelling.

Since its launch, Vampire Therapist has earned strong praise, holding a 95% positive rating on Steam from 788 reviews. All recent feedback has been 100% positive, highlighting its engaging approach to mental health themes.

The game places players in the shoes of Sam, who works alongside Andromachos, a 3,000-year-old vampire specialising in psychological support for immortal beings. Each client represents a different historical era, bringing distinct emotional struggles to therapy sessions.

Gameplay revolves around cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) techniques, approved by licensed professionals. Players listen to vampire patients, analyse their statements, and identify harmful thought patterns. These include distortions like black-and-white thinking, catastrophizing, overgeneralisation, labelling, and rigid 'should' statements. The goal is to guide clients toward healthier perspectives by selecting appropriate responses.

The experience unfolds as a visual novel, prioritising narrative and character development. Fans of vampire stories and psychological exploration have found it particularly compelling. However, the upcoming PS5 version has encountered minor technical issues, such as occasional freezing during dialogue selection. Additionally, despite its Leipzig setting, the game currently lacks German voice acting or text options.

Developers have emphasised the game's educational value, teaching players to recognise and challenge cognitive distortions in a structured yet immersive way.

Vampire Therapist merges storytelling with therapeutic techniques, offering an unconventional but well-received experience. Its high Steam ratings reflect strong player engagement, while the PS5 release aims to expand its audience. The game's focus on CBT principles provides both entertainment and insight into managing harmful thought patterns.
