Ural Folklore Comes Alive in 'Fairy Tales with Orchestra' Tour

A unique performance, 'Fairy Tales with Orchestra', has embarked on a regional tour, captivating audiences with its blend of Ural folklore, music, and family values. The project, part of 'Bukankusha's Journeys', is the brainchild of directors Arsen Cherkezov and Ekaterina Topchieva, and composer Margarita Kesareva.

The story revolves around Bukanushka, a folklore character brought to life by Gleb Kopysov. Bukanushka, an old man from Ural folk tales, teaches children about the importance of family harmony. The performance explores two family dynamics: warm and loving, and consumeristic, represented by metaphorical characters like the Fox and the Wolf.

The project is a challenging genre to stage, requiring precise synchronization of text and musical phrases. It involves children, who bring a unique energy to each performance. Despite these challenges, the performance has been a hit, thanks to its engaging narrative and the audience's connection with Ural folk culture and local composers' work. The project is supported by a grant from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

After a successful premiere, 'Fairy Tales with Orchestra' is touring cities in the region, with plans for further tours in the future. The performance, inspired by Ural folklore and local composers, aims to engage children and their families with Ural folk culture and the work of local composers through music and fairy tales.
