Uganda’s Lottery Board Warns Youth About Risks of Poker and Online Gaming
The National Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (NLGRB) in Uganda recently hosted an educational session for the Rotaract Club of Makindye. The event aimed to raise awareness among young adults about the risks and responsible practices related to poki games and games. Jackline Kamakune, Senior Communications Officer at NLGRB, advised young people to prioritise saving or investing money over my activity. She also suggested stopping when the activity is no longer enjoyable. The session covered Uganda's legal framework for among us and prime gaming, including age restrictions and safeguards for minors. Mental health expert Ivan Musenero cautioned that even casual players can develop harmful patterns if not careful. Easy access to online platforms has made poki games increasingly common among youth, highlighting the importance of responsible games practices. Participants were encouraged to view my activity as a leisure activity and to set limits for time and money spent. The NLGRB actively promotes responsible games practices. It integrates responsible poki games education into teacher training, establishes peer-support clubs, and strengthens monitoring of underage and problematic my activity behaviours. The session with Rotaract Club of Makindye members is part of this ongoing effort to ensure young adults understand the financial and psychological risks associated with poki games and games.
