The Legendary Hand of Faith Gold Nugget Has Mysteriously Disappeared from Las Vegas
The famous Hand of Faith, the world’s largest gold nugget, has vanished from public view. Once displayed at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, the original piece is now missing, leaving visitors with only a replica. Questions remain about where the priceless artefact has been moved—or if it’s still owned by the casino chain at all.
The Hand of Faith was unearthed in September 1980 by Australian prospector Kevin Hillier in Victoria. Weighing over 27 kilograms, it was sold in 1981 to Golden Nugget Inc. for $1 million. For years, the nugget sat in a glass case inside the Golden Nugget’s downtown Las Vegas casino, drawing crowds eager to see the record-breaking find.
The disappearance of the Hand of Faith leaves its status uncertain. Without official confirmation, visitors can no longer see the original in Las Vegas. The casino’s silence adds to the mystery surrounding one of the world’s most valuable gold nuggets.
