Texas poker club raid leaves hundreds of jobs in limbo

Hundreds of jobs are now at risk after a raid forced The Lodge Card Club in Texas to shut down. The popular poker venue, known for its steady work and high pay, faces an uncertain future as investigations continue. Dealers and staff may soon have to look for new careers if the closure drags on. Alisa Maria, a dealer at The Lodge, took to Facebook to voice her worries about the sudden closure. She warned that the club might never return to how it once was. Her post also suggested the shutdown could stretch for weeks or even months.

The Lodge had long been a reliable source of income for dealers, many of whom previously had to travel frequently for work. Andrew Neeme, one of the club's part-owners, raised concerns about losing key employees if the closure lasts too long. He stressed that skilled dealers could easily find other opportunities in Texas's booming job market.

Texas itself had become a hub for poker, offering a steady stream of new dealers and local jobs. But with the investigation still ongoing, many now face the prospect of leaving the industry entirely. The raid has left The Lodge's future hanging in the balance. Without a clear timeline for reopening, dealers and staff may soon turn to other fields for work. The club's extended absence could also weaken Texas's role as a poker employment centre.
