Team USA shatters Olympic records with skeet shooting gold sweep
Team USA dominated skeet shooting at the Tokyo Olympics, securing gold in both the men's and women's events. Amber English and Vincent Hancock each broke Olympic records, while younger athletes also contributed to a strong performance in shooting sports.
Amber English led the way in women's skeet, hitting 56 out of 60 targets to claim gold and set a new Olympic record. A first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve, she became the first American woman to win the event since 2008.
Vincent Hancock matched her success in the men's competition, missing just one target in the final round. His near-perfect score of 59 also set an Olympic record, marking his third gold medal in the discipline.
Elsewhere, 20-year-old Will Shaner won the men's 10-meter air rifle event, becoming the second-youngest Olympic champion in the category. Mary Tucker and Lucas Kozeniesky added to the medal tally with silver in the new 10-meter mixed rifle event.
The results brought Team USA's total in Tokyo shooting events to four medals—two gold and two silver.
The U.S. shooters delivered standout performances across multiple events. Their success included record-breaking scores and podium finishes from both experienced competitors and rising talents. The team's achievements highlighted American strength in Olympic shooting sports.
