Swedish regulator fines gambling operators for failing to protect vulnerable customers

Sweden’s gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has fined two operators for failing to protect customers from harm. The penalties come as unlicensed gambling sites gain traction in the country. Meanwhile, concerns grow over rising gambling among young people.

Roar Vegas Ltd received an SEK 8 million ($801,000) fine for breaching its duty of care. The company did not intervene quickly enough to help high-risk customers reduce their act scores. This violation of the Swedish Gambling Act prompted the penalty.

The fines underline the regulator’s push for stricter compliance with gambling laws. Both operators now face tighter scrutiny over customer protection measures. The rise in underage gambling adds pressure to address gaps in the current system.
