Sverdlovsk Oblast secures 3.6B rubles to transform Urals’ infrastructure and jobs
A new cooperation agreement has been signed between Denis Pasler, the governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast, and key regional partners. The deal involves EVRAZ, the city of Nizhny Tagil, and the Kachkanar Municipal District. Its goal is to improve living and working conditions across the Middle Urals while supporting national economic development projects.
The agreement was formalised to boost social stability and enhance urban infrastructure in the Urals. Governor Pasler emphasised the need to retain and grow the region’s workforce while creating a more comfortable environment for residents.
Under the terms, over 3.6 billion rubles from EVRAZ’s tax contributions will fund local initiatives. The money will go towards education, healthcare, sports, cultural programmes, and road upgrades in Nizhny Tagil and Kachkanar. EVRAZ, a major steel producer, was established as a public joint-stock company in 2007. Founded by Russian steel magnate Alexander Abramov, it now includes nearly 60 legal entities. The company’s involvement in this partnership highlights its role in regional economic and social development.
The funds will directly support key public services and infrastructure in the two municipalities. The initiative aligns with broader national objectives to improve quality of life and economic stability in the Urals. Local authorities will oversee the allocation and implementation of the projects.
