Stockton Kings Celebrate G-League Title with Ring Ceremony and Black History Tribute
The Stockton Kings marked their G-League championship win with a special ring ceremony on Sunday. Before the game, fans gathered to celebrate the team's success and honour Black History Month in style.
The event was packed with performances, tributes, and community engagement, drawing strong support from local schools and basketball enthusiasts.
The celebrations began with a championship ring ceremony, recognising the Stockton Kings' G-League victory. The first 1,000 fans through the doors received a free championship keychain as a keepsake.
On the court, the team wore custom Black History-themed jerseys, which will later be auctioned off to fund community projects. The National Anthem was performed by the Bristow Middle School choir, setting a proud tone for the evening. At halftime, Christian hip-hop artist Miles Minnick took the stage, adding energy to the festivities.
Local high school teams, including Venture Academy, attended the game for inspiration. Coach Eric King from Venture Academy called the event a great bonding experience for his players. He also noted how deeply basketball is rooted in Stockton's culture, describing it as 'really big' in the community.
Among the fans was fifth-grader Jadalynn, who spoke about the importance of celebrating Black History at the game. Her words reflected the broader spirit of the night, blending sports, history, and community pride.
