Star Singers bring blessings and hope for children’s rights in Bavaria

Children dressed as the Three Wise Kings have begun knocking on doors across Kaufbeuren and nearby towns. Their mission is to raise money for global aid projects as part of the annual Star Singers campaign. This year’s effort carries the slogan ‘School, Not the Factory—Star Singing for Children’s Rights’.

The tradition sees young volunteers, wearing robes and crowns to represent the biblical Magi, visiting homes to collect donations. Each group sings carols and blesses households in exchange for contributions.

The 2023 campaign focuses on supporting children’s access to education rather than child labour. Organisers have not publicly named the local group coordinating the event in Kaufbeuren and its surrounding villages.

Residents can expect visits from the Star Singers over the coming days. The funds gathered will go towards international projects that protect children's rights. Last year's donations helped initiatives in multiple countries, and this year's campaign aims to build on that impact.
