Sportsbet fined $313K for failing to send gambling activity reports

Sportsbet, owned by Flutter Entertainment, has been fined A$313,140 for failing to send monthly activity statements to thousands of customers. The penalty was issued by the Northern Territory’s Racing and Wagering Commission after the company admitted to breaching responsible gambling rules. The breach was caused by a technical fault in Sportsbet’s communication management system. This led to more than 50,000 individual failures to send the required statements. Australian regulations mandate that wagering operators provide these monthly summaries to help customers monitor their betting habits and reduce problem gambling risks. The fine serves as a reminder of the strict enforcement of responsible gambling laws in Australia. Operators must now ensure their systems reliably deliver mandatory customer communications. Sportsbet has since corrected the technical issue and resumed sending the required statements.
