South Beach Casino Secuity Chief Firing Tied to Harassment Complaints, Not Drugs

Devin Morin, the former security head at South Beach Casino and Resort in Manitoba, was dismissed in 2025 following multiple sexual harassment claims. The casino stated his firing was based on misconduct, not his earlier whistleblowing about drug activity on the premises. Morin, however, insisted his termination was retaliation for raising those concerns.

The first allegation against Morin surfaced in January 2025, when a female colleague accused him of sexual harassment. An internal investigation led to a formal written reprimand. Months later, in July, a second employee—identified only as 'J.A.'—filed a similar complaint, which the casino also found credible.

Security footage reviewed during the investigation partially supported the second employee’s account. Despite this, Morin argued that his dismissal stemmed from his earlier reports about drug-related issues at the casino. He claimed to have faced threats of violence after informing the CEO about suspected drug activity, including allegations involving someone close to the CEO.

The casino rejected Morin’s claims in its legal defence, labelling his lawsuit as 'frivolous and vexatious.' Officials maintained that his firing was justified under the company’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment. They stated the decision was made solely to protect other employees from his behaviour.

Morin’s termination followed two substantiated complaints of sexual misconduct, with the casino citing its policies as the reason for his dismissal. His allegations of retaliation for whistleblowing were denied by the company, which stood by its investigation findings. The case remains part of ongoing legal proceedings.
