Six New Lotto Millionaires and Millions for Clubs - Six New Lotto Millionaires and Millions for Clubs
Saxony-Anhalt saw a record year for lottery wins in 2025, with six new millionaires and a total of €66.75 million collected in taxes and fees from ticket sales. The state also distributed millions to local projects, including a new grant scheme for small sports clubs struggling with costs.
The biggest prize of the year went to a Eurojackpot winner in July, who claimed €58.3 million. Just a month later, two more players struck it rich: a Dessau-Roßlau resident won €1 million in the Eurojackpot, while a woman from Burgenlandkreis secured the same amount with a scratch card.
Earlier in the year, the '6aus49' draw produced two major wins. A man from the Harz region took home €23.3 million in February, and another player in Mansfeld-Südharz won €1.6 million the same month. On average, each resident spent €91.38 on lottery games over the year. Beyond payouts, lottery funds supported local initiatives. A total of €5.67 million was allocated to non-profits working in sports, culture, social services, heritage, and environmental protection. Among these, a new €50,000 grant programme now helps small sports clubs with up to 150 members, covering equipment, training camps, and coaching courses. The state also approved 84 clubs for its *Sports Sponsorships for Small Clubs* programme, though the full list remains unpublished. Officials have not yet released further details on the selection process or criteria.
The lottery boom in Saxony-Anhalt brought windfalls for players and funding for community projects. With €5.67 million directed to local causes and a new grant for grassroots sports, the proceeds are making an impact beyond the jackpot winners. The state’s lottery system continues to balance big payouts with support for regional development.
