Sirbu Busted by Chiang
A high-stakes hand in a recent poker tournament saw Marian Sirbu eliminated after a dramatic all-in showdown. The clash involved Michael Delaney and Jen-Yue Chiang, with a board that favoured the American pro’s strong starting cards.
Sirbu left the table with nothing, while Chiang boosted his stack to 95,000 chips.
The action began when Michael Delaney opened the betting with a raise to 3,200. Jen-Yue Chiang responded with a three-bet, pushing the pot to 11,100. Delaney chose to fold, but the hand took a sharp turn when Marian Sirbu—sitting in the big blind—announced a cold four-bet jam for his remaining 24,700 chips.
Chiang called, revealing a showdown between his A♦ J♦ and Sirbu’s pocket tens (10♣ 10♠). The board ran out A♣ 7♣ 4♣ K♣ 4♦, pairing the ace in the window. Sirbu’s hand failed to improve, and he was knocked out of the tournament.
Delaney, who had stepped aside earlier, retained his 60,000-chip stack. Chiang, meanwhile, climbed to 95,000 after securing the pot. His performance aligns with his 2025 Asia-Pacific ranking, where he holds 4,247 points and $31,895 in earnings from five cashes this year.
Sirbu’s elimination leaves him with no chips, while Chiang’s stack now stands at 95,000. The hand highlights the risks of all-in moves in tournament play, especially against strong pre-flop holdings. Delaney remains in contention with 60,000 chips.
