Saxony’s KORA Initiative Expands Free Support to Fight Extremist Radicalization

Saxony has bolstered its battle against extremist radicalization with KORA, the region’s primary advisory and coordination center. The initiative, spearheaded by the State Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Social Cohesion, provides personalized support to those at risk and their families. Since 2023, its services have encompassed all forms of extremism, not merely Islamist threats.

KORA functions through four principal areas: fortifying local structures, aiding families and social networks, steering disengagement, and assisting exits from extremist groups. All services are mobile, free, and confidential, with anonymity guaranteed upon request. The center also extends its work into prisons and probation services, including the Prisma Saxony project run by Violence Prevention Network (VPN) and APro.

KORA’s services are now fully operational across Saxony, offering a systematic and accessible means to combat extremism. The initiative’s free, confidential support aims to mitigate radicalization risks while aiding affected individuals and communities. Authorities and partner organizations continue to broaden outreach through mobile and prison-based programs.
