San Luis Potosí Opens Tokyo Office to Attract Major Japanese Investments

San Luis Potosí has opened a representative office in Tokyo to bolster ties with Japan and lure Japanese investment. Governor Ricardo Gallardo Cardona, during his visit, met with high-level officials and corporate representatives, sparking talks on key sectors and future investments.

Governor Gallardo's meetings included discussions with JETRO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and corporations like Zensho Holdings. Investment talks centred around automotive, electromobility, agribusiness, and technology sectors. Notably, Japanese manufacturer Daikan plans to invest US $380 million in a third plant in San Luis Potosí, creating 3,500 jobs initially, with potential to reach 6,000 jobs in the next two years.

The new representative office in Tokyo aims to serve over 50 Japanese companies already operating in San Luis Potosí. Governor Gallardo expects at least 10 new Japanese investments in the state by the end of 2025. The Mexico-Japan Free Trade Agreement was also discussed during the meetings, highlighting the potential for further bilateral cooperation.

San Luis Potosí's representative office in Tokyo signals a commitment to strengthening ties with Japan. With Daikan's significant investment and Governor Gallardo's optimistic projections, the state looks set to attract more Japanese capital and create jobs in key sectors.
