Poulengeris Busts

A high-stakes poker hand at a London tournament saw Peter Schröder (P.S.) emerge victorious, knocking out Antonis Poulengeris in the process. The showdown unfolded on a board of 9♦, 8♦, 2♦, Jh, Ah, with a pot worth 23,000 up for grabs.

The action began with Poulengeris going all-in, while a 5,000 side pot developed between Schröder and Goonjan Mall. Schröder then placed a bet of 11,000, which Mall called. When the cards were revealed, Schröder held 5♦, 4♦—a flush that secured the win. Poulengeris’ 6♥, 5♥ and Mall’s A♦, J♣ were no match.

After the hand, Schröder’s stack grew to 95,000, while Mall’s chips dropped to 36,000. Poulengeris, however, was eliminated from the competition. This victory contributed to Schröder’s eventual tournament win on **12 July 2023**, earning him a prize of **£95,000**.

The hand marked a turning point in the tournament, boosting Schröder’s lead while ending Poulengeris’ run. Mall, though still in contention, saw their stack significantly reduced. The outcome set the stage for Schröder’s later triumph in the event.
