Horse Breeder Gifts a Purebred Arabian to the Pope - Pope Francis Gifted Purebred Arabian Horse Proton for Charity Auction
A purebred Arabian horse named Proton has been gifted to Pope Francis. The light gray-white steed, with dark spots resembling a papal cassock, is set to be auctioned off for charity, following a tradition of the Pope receiving unique gifts.
Proton's lineage is impressive. His mother, Pradera, is a descendant of a horse owned by Jordanian princess Alia al-Hussein. His father, Kahil, hails from a breeding program in the United States. The horse breeder, who wishes to remain anonymous, presented Proton to the Pope.
Proton is not intended to replace the Popemobile, but rather to be a symbol of generosity and charity. The Pope has received various unusual gifts in the past, including two donkeys and a Lamborghini sports car, all of which were auctioned off to support those in need. Pope Pius XII, a predecessor of Pope Francis, also received a horse named Proton from a Polish nobleman, Michalski, in 1947.
Proton, with his unique coat and distinguished lineage, will join the list of extraordinary gifts received by the Pope. The proceeds from his auction will go towards helping those less fortunate, continuing the tradition of turning such gifts into acts of charity.
