Police crack down on speeding and reckless driving in major enforcement blitz

Traffic police in the Märkischer Kreis district conducted a large-scale enforcement operation on Tuesday, focusing on roads in Halver and Schalksmühle. They targeted speeding, distracted driving, and other unsafe behaviours. The operation resulted in 172 recorded offences in a single day. Speeding was the most common, with 105 drivers caught exceeding limits, including one by 29 km/h. Additionally, 26 drivers were penalised for distracted or reckless behaviour, such as phone use and red-light running. Four individuals were found driving without a valid licence, and 28 cases involved improper load securing, breaches of social regulations, technical defects, or failures in hazardous goods transport rules. No drivers were found under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Authorities reminded the public to stay alert and follow traffic laws, and confirmed that similar operations would continue in the future. The enforcement blitz highlighted persistent issues like speeding and distracted driving, and police will maintain these targeted checks to improve road safety. Drivers are urged to remain vigilant and comply with all regulations.
