Poker pro aims to break 49-hour online marathon record live on Twitch

American poker player Nicholas Rascona is set to challenge the world record for the longest online poker session. His attempt begins at 9am ET on Sunday, September 14, with the goal of surpassing the current 49-hour mark. The session will be streamed live on Twitch as he plays on ACR Poker's platform.

The existing record for an online poker marathon stands at 49 hours, achieved by Sergio Garcia in 2023. Before that, Phil Laak held the live poker record at 115 hours, while Zach Gensler's 124-hour session in 2021 remains unrecognised by Guinness World Records. Rascona must play continuously until at least 10am on Tuesday, September 16, to break Garcia's official benchmark.

Online poker moves far quicker than live games. While live tournaments average 25-35 hands per hour per table, online events handle 60-80 hands or more due to automated dealing and faster decision-making. This pace will add to the mental and physical demands of Rascona's challenge.

ACR Poker is supporting the attempt by providing extra funds and tournament tickets. Chris Moneymaker, the platform's ambassador and 2003 World Series of Poker champion, has also backed Rascona's bid. The player plans to focus mainly on micro-stakes tournaments but will also join select events in the Online Super Series XL during the session.

Rascona's record attempt will push his endurance, discipline, and focus to the limit. If successful, he will set a new Guinness World Record for the longest online poker session. The event will be broadcast live, allowing viewers to follow his progress in real time.
