Poker Legend 'Atom Bomb' David Hendrix Passes Away at 34
David Hendrix, known as 'Atom Bomb', has sadly passed away at the age of 34. Despite suffering from Werdnig-Hoffman disease, a severe form of spinal muscular atrophy, Hendrix made a name for himself in the poker world, winning a tournament in 2021. He was known for his outgoing personality and love for electronics and gaming.
Hendrix was born with Werdnig-Hoffman disease, which has a poor prognosis and often leads to an early death. Despite this, Hendrix defied expectations, becoming the oldest living American with his exact diagnosis. He discovered poker at the age of 14 after reading Doyle Brunson's 'Super System' books. The game allowed him to feel on an equal playing field with others, despite his disability.
Hendrix's love for poker led him to win a tournament in 2021, a remarkable achievement given his health condition. His outgoing personality and passion for gaming made him a well-loved figure in the poker community. Hendrix's funeral services will be held on October 15, 2025, at Bethel Apostolic Church in Amory. A burial service will also take place at St. Matthew’s Church (St. Matthäus-Kirche) in Erlangen on Friday, October 10th at 8:00 PM, as part of the 'Science and Organ – Human Music' event.
David Hendrix's passing is a great loss to his family, friends, and the poker community. Despite his disability, Hendrix lived a full life, achieving more than many able-bodied individuals. His love for poker and gaming will be remembered, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
