Playtech enters Connecticut's booming online gambling market with new license

Playtech has expanded into Connecticut's growing online gambling market after securing a licence from the state's Department of Consumer Protection. The company's casino games are now live for players, marking its sixth regulated launch in the US.

Jonathan Doubilet, general manager of Playtech USA, welcomed the move, calling it an exciting step for the business.

Connecticut's iGaming sector has seen strong growth in recent months. In January 2023, total wagers hit $1.77 billion, up 10% from the previous year. Gross gaming revenue also climbed by 19%, reaching $64.6 million.

Playtech's entry follows approval from state regulators. The company's partners have repeatedly backed its ability to meet the strict demands of the US market. With this latest launch, Playtech now operates in six regulated states across the country.

The expansion gives Connecticut players access to Playtech's full casino games portfolio. It also strengthens the company's position in a rapidly growing US iGaming industry. State revenue figures suggest the market continues to expand at a steady pace.
