Planet Hollywood’s poker room shuts down despite recent upgrades and tournaments

Planet Hollywood’s poker room will close its doors on January 31, 2025. The announcement came via Vegas Poker Nomad, known online as El Diesel, who shared the news on his YouTube channel. Despite recent upgrades and a well-attended tournament, the venue struggled to attract enough players to stay open.

The poker room had reopened in May 2024 after a major remodel. Management moved it to the second floor to create a quieter space and expand tournament capacity. Players responded positively to the changes, but attendance remained low.

In January 2025, the room hosted a successful WSOP Circuit event, drawing praise from participants. Yet, even this boost was not enough to keep the operation running. The closure will leave 18 poker rooms still active across the Las Vegas Valley. Looking ahead, the next major shift in the city’s poker scene may come in 2027. That’s when the Hard Rock plans to remodel the Mirage, potentially reshaping poker offerings on the Strip.

The shutdown marks the end of Planet Hollywood’s poker operations after years of service. The remaining 18 rooms in the Las Vegas Valley will now absorb displaced players. Meanwhile, future developments at the Hard Rock could bring new opportunities for poker fans in the coming years.
