Pimloc’s Secure Redact update strengthens digital evidence integrity for UK police

Pimloc has rolled out major updates to its Secure Redact platform, adding advanced Chain of Custody and Audit Trail features. Designed primarily for UK police forces, the enhancements ensure every step of file handling is tracked and verifiable.

The changes come as law enforcement agencies seek stronger safeguards for digital evidence processing.

The new features automatically record every interaction with a file, from upload to download. Each action is timestamped and linked to a user ID and unique file identifier. This creates a complete, unbroken log of all edits and access.

Simon Randall, CEO and co-founder of Pimloc, explained that police customers needed full confidence in the chain of custody. The updates were developed to meet this demand, ensuring every redaction step is reviewable and secure. Logs can now be exported as secure PDFs, providing a clear record for oversight bodies.

Beyond policing, the improvements also benefit other sectors where redaction integrity is critical. The system supports compliance with UK disclosure rules, criminal procedure laws, and data protection requirements. Randall noted that the changes align with growing calls for responsible AI governance in evidence handling.

The expanded Secure Redact platform now offers full visibility into redaction workflows. Organisations can demonstrate how and when footage was processed, reinforcing evidential standards. The features are already in use by UK police forces and other sectors requiring strict audit trails.
