Phil Hellmuth III chases first Circuit ring with dramatic WSOP Paradise run

Phil Hellmuth III made a strong run at the $600 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold'em event during WSOP Paradise 2025 in early December. Starting the final day with 190,000 chips, he climbed to 22nd place before the tournament concluded. His performance included dramatic hands and a shot at becoming the first Hellmuth to win a Circuit ring.

The action began with Hellmuth III all in preflop for 55,000 chips. He held pocket aces against two opponents—one with pocket kings, the other with pocket tens. The flop brought a ten, giving the short stack a glimmer of hope, but the turn delivered a king, shifting the lead to the big stack.

Hellmuth III then hit an ace on the river, securing the pot and nearly tripling his chips. He later called it an 'online hand in real life' due to the dramatic swings. By the end of the day, he had won another major cooler with a set over set, pushing his total to 302,000 chips. As of the latest update, 54 players remain from the original 260 in the Day 1b flight. Hellmuth III’s deep run keeps him in contention for his first Circuit ring.
