Petrovsk-Zabaikalsk's 'Native' Ensemble Takes Third at All-Russian Folk Festival

The 'Native' folk ensemble from Petrovsk-Zabaikalsk has made a splash at the All-Russian competition-festival 'Poetry, My Native Land. On the Wave of Traditions' in Smolensk. The ensemble secured third place, a remarkable achievement among stiff competition.

The festival, held in Smolensk, was a grand affair. It comprised competitive auditions, a creative laboratory for artistic exchange, a spectacular gala concert, a performance in Yelnya, and insightful master classes. The event drew folk choirs and folklore ensembles from a staggering 19 regions across Russia, including the Stavropol and Perm territories, and many others.

The 'Native' ensemble's leader, Boris Korchanov, was honoured with a special diploma. This recognition is a testament to his dedication in preserving and promoting traditional Russian folk music through his original compositions. Meanwhile, Elena Vostrova, a talented competitor, took home the top position in the festival.
