Person Falls to Their Death at Emerald Queen Casino Near Seattle
A fatal incident took place at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, on Saturday night. One person died after falling from an upper floor, while another suffered minor injuries. The accident occurred just after 9:20 PM local time.
The victim fell through a glass panel from above the slot machines and table games area. Emergency services, including the Tacoma Police Department and first responders, arrived quickly at the scene. The person was pronounced dead immediately, with no signs of foul play reported.
The Puyallup Tribal Police are leading the investigation, as the casino sits on tribal land. Owned by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians, the venue opened in June 2020 and features a large, multi-level 'Vegas-style' gambling floor connected by escalators. The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office is now conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. It remains unclear whether the fall was accidental or intentional. The casino also operates a second location in Fife, WA, but this incident occurred at the Tacoma site.
Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased or a timeline for concluding the investigation. The casino continues to cooperate with tribal police as the case develops. Further details will be provided once the autopsy and inquiry are complete.
