Penguins Sign 10-Year-Old Superfan to a Heartwarming One-Day Contract
The Pittsburgh Penguins have made a 10-year-old boy’s dream come true by signing him to a special one-day contract. Myer Gallant, from O’Leary, Prince Edward Island, joined the team through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The moment has been called the most meaningful of the Penguins’ season so far.
Myer Gallant, who lives with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), has long been a devoted Penguins fan. He often stays up late to watch games on television, with his parents cheering him on. His favourite players, Sidney Crosby and Ryan Graves, also hail from Canada’s Maritime provinces, just like him.
The Penguins welcomed Myer with open arms. He wore Crosby’s No. 87 jersey during a press conference and watched practice from the glass. Later, he met Crosby and Graves in person, exchanging gifts with them. The Gallant family had already travelled to Tampa Bay last season to see the Penguins play. Now, they will attend another game in Pittsburgh on Thursday. The team, currently struggling with just two goals in their last three matches, has found a bright spot in Myer’s visit.
Myer’s one-day contract marks a rare moment of joy for both him and the Penguins organization. The team’s recent on-ice struggles have been overshadowed by the impact of this gesture. For a young fan facing daily challenges, the experience will remain unforgettable.
