Ottawa’s public EV charging stations see record usage despite national sales slump

The city’s busiest charging point stands at 118 Cartier St., recording 751 charges by mid-2024. Urban areas, with their higher population density, dominate usage patterns. Most stations offer Level 2 chargers, adding 35 to 45 km of range per hour, while faster but costlier Level 3 options remain less common.

Ottawa’s charging network has expanded alongside rising demand, though national policy changes slowed EV adoption in 2025. The city’s stations remain heavily used, particularly in dense urban zones. Future growth will depend on federal decisions and ongoing infrastructure support.
