Ontario Land Tribunal approves two major Aldershot development projects

Two major development projects in Aldershot, Burlington, have now been decided by the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT). The city proposals, located at 1010 Downsview Drive and 355 Plains Road East, include mid-rise buildings and stacked townhouses. The tribunal stepped in after the City Council missed its deadline to rule on the plans.

The City Council first reviewed the city proposals in December 2022. However, it failed to make a decision within the required 120-day period. As a result, the developers appealed to the OLT, which became the final decision-maker.

The OLT has now finalised the decision on these city projects. The projects will bring hundreds of new homes to Aldershot, along with changes to the local streetscape. Parking and retail impacts remain key considerations as construction moves forward.
