Olga Gauks breaks barriers as Berlin's first Russian-German lawmaker

Olga Gauks has made history as the first Russian-German member of the Berlin House of Representatives. Representing the Marzahn-Mitte constituency, she has served in the state parliament for nearly two years. Her background and political focus now shape her plans for 2025. Born into a multilingual family, Gauks grew up speaking both German and Russian fluently. Her experience living in different countries has influenced her perspective on integration and cultural diversity.

In her political work, she prioritises education, family policy, and cultural initiatives. She also supports the concerns of late repatriates and Russian-German residents in her district. A key goal is fostering respectful coexistence among Berlin's varied communities.

Gauks plans to introduce regular citizens' office hours to stay connected with voters. She also wants to strengthen ties with Kazakhstan, promoting cultural exchange between the two regions. Additionally, she advocates for a dynamic cultural scene that mirrors the diversity of Marzahn-Mitte. Gauks will continue her work in the Berlin parliament with a clear focus on integration and community engagement. Her initiatives aim to address local needs while building international cultural connections. The coming year will see her expand efforts in education, family support, and direct dialogue with constituents.
