Okada Manila and PhilWeb launch Okada Play to boost digital gaming revenues

PhilWeb Corporation has teamed up with Okada Manila to launch Okada Play, a new online gaming platform. The move comes as the casino operator looks to offset declining revenues from its land-based operations. Okada Manila's 2025 earnings fell sharply, pushing the company to expand into digital gaming.

Okada Manila's gross gaming revenue dropped by 20.1% in 2025, reaching PHP 27.81 billion (around US$462 million). Adjusted EBITDA also fell by 44% to PHP 4.27 billion, highlighting financial pressures. To counter this, the company is now focusing on digital growth.

PhilWeb will handle key aspects of Okada Play, including gaming content, platform technology, customer support, and marketing. The partnership builds on PhilWeb's recent launch of Hann Online, developed with Hann Casino Resort. It has also signed deals with FBM Philippines to further expand its online gaming footprint.

The Philippines' online gambling market has surged from $1.2 billion in 2020 to over $3.5 billion by 2025. Factors like COVID-19 lockdowns, regulatory backing from PAGCOR, and rising smartphone use have driven this growth. Okada Manila's President, Nobuki Sato, sees Okada Play as a vital step in strengthening the group's digital presence.

Okada Play aims to replicate the success of Okada Manila's land-based operations in the digital space. The platform's launch positions PhilWeb as a major player in the Philippines' expanding online gaming sector. Both companies expect the move to diversify revenue and tap into the growing digital betting market.
