Offenbach police crack down on traffic violations and drug offences in new operation
Police in Offenbach have reported several incidents over the past week, including a violent assault on a taxi driver and a burglary targeting an elderly couple. Officers also carried out targeted traffic checks, uncovering multiple offences linked to drugs and unlicensed driving.
On Wednesday, officers conducted checks in the Offenbach area to monitor substance use and traffic violations. Nine drivers were required to provide blood samples after showing signs of intoxication. Six tested positive for THC in preliminary screenings, while two others appeared impaired by different substances. Additionally, two individuals were caught driving without a licence, and another was operating a vehicle without valid insurance. Around 80 grams of cannabis were confiscated during the operation.
The investigations into the assault, burglary, and traffic violations remain active. Authorities have released descriptions of the suspects in the assault and theft cases, urging anyone with information to come forward. The recent checks also resulted in charges under the Cannabis Consumption Act and administrative penalties for unlicensed and uninsured driving.
