Nikolayevsk locals rally to fund a rugged UAZ-452 'loaf' van for frontline troops
A fundraising drive has begun in Nikolayevsk-on-Amur to purchase a UAZ-452 van, often called the 'loaf'. The campaign, organized by the public group Strength of the East, aims to provide a reliable vehicle for delivering ammunition to frontline troops. Locals are being asked to contribute to the effort, which follows the transfer of the last such van to medics for evacuating wounded soldiers.
The UAZ-452 is known for its durability and ability to handle rough terrain. Its simple design makes maintenance straightforward, even in difficult conditions. Strength of the East is leading the push to secure the vehicle, though no details have been released on how many similar models the group has already supplied.
A separate initiative is also underway to fund individual first-aid kits for the 114th Brigade's UAV platoon. Meanwhile, another volunteer organization, Reliable Rear, has launched a weekly donation scheme. Called the 'Hundred Rubles' campaign, it encourages residents to give 100 rubles every Monday to support troops directly.
The funds raised will go towards both the UAZ-452 van and essential medical supplies. Strength of the East has not disclosed how close the campaign is to its target. Donations continue to be collected through local networks and volunteer channels.
