Newport’s Bourbon Revival: REMUS Returns with Bootlegging History and Craft Cocktails

Newport to celebrate REMUS' return; bourbon and more to benefit Newport Foundation

Newport has a long memory - and bourbon is a big part of it. On Thursday, Dec. 11, the City of Newport will lean into that history with "REMUS Returns to Newport: A Night of Bourbon, Bootlegging, and Big Vision" at Newport Syndicate, 18 East 5th Street, from 6-10 p.m. The event, facilitated by the City of Newport, will raise funds for local economic growth and bourbon tourism projects.

Newport will celebrate its Prohibition-era past with a special bourbon-themed evening this December. The event, titled REMUS Returns to Newport: A Night of Bourbon, Bootlegging, and Big Vision, takes place on Dec. 11, 2025, at the Newport Syndicate. Organised by the City of Newport, it will raise funds for local economic growth and bourbon tourism projects.

The evening promises a mix of entertainment and history. Guests can enjoy REMUS craft cocktails, live music from The Sin City Trio, and a silent auction. There will also be giveaways and the chance to meet REMUS Master Distiller Ian Stirsman.

The Dec. 11 gathering will blend history, entertainment, and fundraising. Money raised will directly fund the Newport Bourbon Welcome Center and explore a permanent REMUS Bourbon location. Organisers hope the event will boost local tourism and economic development for years to come.
