New Study Reveals Adults' Pasta Habits: Plain Pasta 'Crime' for Some
A new study by Mars Food & Nutrition, representing Dolmio, reveals surprising insights into adults' pasta eating habits ahead of World Pasta Day. The research shows that while many enjoy plain pasta, some consider it boring or even a 'crime' to eat without sauce.
Hana Hutchinson, European Brand Director at Mars Food & Nutrition, shares that over half of adults have savoured plain pasta dishes. However, 44 per cent have criticised these plain pasta eaters, with nearly half considering it a 'crime' to consume pasta without sauce. Hutchinson notes that 31 per cent believe not salting the water enough is a 'sin', and 24 per cent think serving pasta on a cold plate is unacceptable.
The study also highlights evolving pasta trends. Thirteen per cent have tried a new sauce after seeing one on social media, and 39 per cent are eager to experiment with new sauces and trends. Eight per cent plan to add pistachios to their pasta soon, while nine per cent believe adding ketchup is wrong. Overcooking pasta until mushy is considered a 'sin' by 27 per cent.
The research underscores the importance of sauce and innovation in pasta dishes. As World Pasta Day approaches, Hutchinson encourages pasta lovers to explore new sauces and trends to enhance their pasta experience. Despite some considering plain pasta boring or a 'crime', the study shows that many adults enjoy experimenting with their pasta meals.
