Nevada's 2026 gubernatorial election is shaping up to be a tight race between Democratic Attorney General Aaron Ford and incumbent Republican Governor Joe Lombardo. The election, set for Nov. 3, 2026, has seen a recent poll putting Lombardo at 40%, Ford at 37%, with 23% undecided. Economic issues are at the forefront, with Ford focusing his campaign on cost of living and housing affordability, while Lombardo steers clear of the topic.

Ford enjoys an early lead among Latino and Hispanic voters, a crucial demographic that could swing the election. His campaign's focus on economic issues resonates with this group, who are particularly concerned about the high cost of groceries in Nevada, among the highest in the nation. Ford's Democratic Party has slight voter favor, but Lombardo's personal popularity has earned him support from independents and voters in Clark County.

Lombardo, however, has been avoiding discussion on economic issues, instead shifting focus to other topics. This strategy has seen him maintain strongholds in suburban areas and among independent voters. Meanwhile, housing prices in the Las Vegas area have reached record highs, further emphasizing the economic concerns of voters.

As the election nears, both candidates are vying for the support of undecided voters. Ford's emphasis on economic issues and lead among Latino voters could prove decisive, while Lombardo's personal appeal and strongholds among key voter groups make him a formidable opponent. With the election still over a year away, both campaigns are likely to intensify their efforts to secure the support of Nevada voters.
